Yoga is a fantastic activity for kids as it promotes physical health, flexibility, and relaxation. Here are five easy yoga poses that children can try:
- Tree Pose: Stand tall with feet together and arms by the sides. Lift one leg, placing the sole of your foot against your inner thigh or calf. Balance while keeping hands in prayer position at the chest.
- Cat-Cow Stretch: Get on all fours with knees and hands on the ground. Arch your back like a cat by pulling your belly button towards the spine and dropping your head slightly. Then lift your tailbone up, allowing your belly to sink towards the floor for cow pose.
- Child's Pose: Kneel down on the mat, sitting back onto heels while stretching arms forward along the floor with forehead touching or hovering above it.
- Downward Dog: Start on all fours, then push hips up into an inverted V-shape while straightening legs and pressing palms firmly into the ground.
- Butterfly Pose: Sit down with soles of feet touching each other in front of you; hold ankles or toes while gently flapping knees up-and-down like butterfly wings
